The Medical School at University of Algarve (www.medicina.ualg.pt), at Faro, Portugal, is seeking to recruit 4 new Faculty members at the Assistant Professor level (tenure track). The prospective start date is end of 2010 for an initial 5-year contract. This recruitment drive will continue during the next 1-2 years, thus increasing the total number of new Faculty Members.

  Candidates holding a PhD in the fields of Medicine, Biochemical, Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology are encouraged to apply provided they have between 3-10 years postdoctoral work. Good communication skills are required. Command of Portuguese language is an advantage but not is mandatory. 

  Applications will be open in the following research fields:

  - Regeneration/Development of the heart;

  - Regeneration/Development of the pancreas/liver;

  Successful applicants will be integrated within the Regenerative Medicine Program and involved in the teaching of the newly established Medical School. We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative scientists aiming to establish themselves in the broad field of Regenerative Medicine, into an inter-disciplinary environment. New Faculty Members will be provided with office and laboratory space, Imaging, Cell and Animal core facilities and services, and start up support. Due to the close relationship between the Medical School and the region’s Health System, Faculty Members will have excellent access to clinical data.
