Professor Austin Smith has expertise in the field of mouse developmental biology and has pioneered key advances in the field of embryonic stem cell research. Austin was the Project Co-ordinator for the original EuroStemCell, is Deputy Coordinator for another FP6 project, ESTOOLS, and is Project Co-ordinator in FP7 project EuroSyStem. In January 2010 he was awarded the prestigious Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine.
