The Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research provides outstanding scientists with the opportunity to undertake ground-breaking research into the fundamental properties of mammalian stem cells and their application in disease modelling, drug discovery and cell therapies. The Centre is funded on a renewable basis through The Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council.

The Stem Cellⁱ and Regeneration Thematic Research Program, School of Biomedical Sciences is activity seeking Scientists with experience in stem cells biology and translational medicine.  It is expected that 3-4 positions at the Assistant Professor level will be open for application over the next 2 years.  Successful candidate will receive seed research money, a technician/research assistant and post-graduate students. Candidates studying embryonic and adult stem cells/ips cellsⁱ in cardiac and liver repair are especially welcome.

The MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine is a flagship initiative whose portfolio spans world leading fundamental research on normal and malignant stem cells through to translational and preclinical research and phase I clinical trials. Our mission is to gain fundamental understanding of stem cells, to use this knowledge to improve human health, and to provide leadership in training the next generation of basic and clinical scientists in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine (http://www.crm.ed.ac.uk).

EuroSyStem is an EU Framework 7 initiative, integrating the efforts of 27 leading research teams in 18 different institutions from 8 European countries to drive the generation of new knowledge on the characteristics of normal and abnormal stem cells; our training and public outreach programme is based at the Institute for Stem Cell Research, University of Edinburgh.
