EuroSyStem is an EU Framework 7 initiative, integrating the efforts of 27 leading research teams in 18 different institutions from 8 European countries to drive the generation of new knowledge on the characteristics of normal and abnormal stem cells; our training and public outreach programme is based at the Institute for Stem Cell Research, University of Edinburgh.

Responsible for proactive collation and dissemination of information on stem cell research and related ethical and societal topics, you will have a flair for developing science communication tools and for presenting science to audiences at educational levels ranging from school students to scientists, clinicians and regulators. Together with the EuroSyStem Training and Public Engagement Director you will roll out our comprehensive public engagement and outreach programme, designed to promote public awareness in the stem cell field, across Europe and will also further develop this programme. In addition, you will communicate knowledge generated within the EuroSyStem Project to participating scientists and to print and broadcast media, and will have a role in developing and publicising the EuroSyStem internal and open training programmes.

Candidates qualified to degree or equivalent level in Communications or Journalism are encouraged to apply. Experience of writing press releases and writing for the web is essential, as is a demonstrable capacity to reach different target audiences. Experience of producing AV materials would also be valuable. Background knowledge of stem cell and/or broader biomedical science would also be an advantage.

Fixed Term: 1 year

Salary Scale:£28,290 - £33,780 pa (pro rata for 28 hours/week)
