Marco Onorati is an Associate Research Scientist in Nenad Sestan’s lab at Yale University School of Medicine (New Haven, CT - USA). His research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular basis of how neural stem cells generate distinct types of neurons in the cerebral cortex, the region of the brain that is critical for cognition, perception and behavior. An important element of this research is the study of human pluripotent and neural stem cell models to investigate the mechanisms of neurodevelopment, evolution and disease.

He was previously working in Elena Cattaneo’s lab (University of Milan), focusing on stem cell differentiation into striatal neurons, affected in the neurodegeneration occurring in Huntington’s disease.
