Ian Chambers is a Professor of Pluripotent Stem Cell Biology at the University of Edinburgh's MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine. He is also a Principal Investigator in the Framework Seven project EuroSyStem.
Ian is working closely with the EuroSyStem Communications Officer to develop and pilot a set of 10-minute activities on stem cells, aimed at school students aged 12-16. These activities will form a flexible ‘box of tools’ that can be combined to build a lesson introducing the key concepts of stem cell science. The materials will be made widely available through the EuroStemCell website.
Ian’s research focuses on pluripotent embryonic stem (ES) cells. His lab’s goal is to define the molecules and mechanisms that direct ES cell self-renewal and differentiation, with a principal focus on self-renewal.
