CardioCell aims to identify sources of cells that can be used to regenerate injured heart tissue. We are expanding our basic scientific knowledge about cardiomyocyte progenitors - a type of cell that produces heart muscle cells (cardiomyocytes). The new knowledge we generate will contribute to significant improvements in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Europe, and will help to maintain European competitiveness in this field of research.
